Tunze 3181 Macro Algae Reactor
$5.00 back via Rewards Points
The TUNZE® 3181 Macro Algae Reactor is a free standing
Refugium can be easilt adapted to any aquarium. Placed in a sump, or under a
AIO tank without an external filter, this "little beast" is very
adaptable. Tunze has rectified the problem in that the algae in a standard
refugium stays static to the light source, where this Refugium benefits from
the circulation of water in the reactor ensures that the algae culture rotates
and reduces the number of light sources.
The included Tunze Eco Chic Refugium LED is a unique
waterproof light with a spectrum suited for refugium macro-algae growth in
marine or freshwater systems.
The Macro Algae Reactor also includes a DC feed pump as well
as all needed plumbing making for a quick and effortless install - just add
algae and you are good to go. The pump spins the algae within the reactor so
that all the algae can make full utilization of the lighting system to properly
photosynthesize and grow.

Biological detoxification of ecosystems by algae / plants
Reduction of nitrate and phosphate content
Filtration of the aquarium water
Production of food supplement for fish
Zooplankton refuge, serving as food for corals and fish
Enrichment of the water with oxygen
Macro Algae Reactor
The Macro Algae Reactor MAR 3181 is specially constructed to
cultivate algae in seawater and plants in freshwater.
Chaetomorpha "Spaghetti Algae" is cultured by many
marine aquarists to eliminate nitrates and phosphates from the aquatic biotope.
It is recommended to harvest a handful of algae from time to time to maintain
the biological balance in an aquarium – an economical and easy alternative to
many chemicals or resins.
Naja Grass, Najas guadalupensis, can be grown to purify
freshwater systems,
such as cichlid biotopes.
TUNZE® MAR 3181 can be placed in any filter basin or next to
the aquarium without external filter technology.
The water circulation in the reactor ensures the rotation of
the algae culture and thus reduces the number of light sources accompanied by
strong plant growth. However, additional light sources can be added to the
device as needed.
